Damjan Gjorgievski: “Engravist ıs a great opportunity for students”

Artist Damjan Gjorgievski asisted “Multicolor Printmaking” and “Aquatint and Mezzotint” symposiums within the scope of “International Engravist Printmaking Activities” at Yildiz Technical University Art and Design Faculty Engravist Atelier. He signed successful works with professors and participants. The artist, who came to Istanbul for the first time, shared with us the experiences he has blended digital and traditional techniques. We all witnessed his excitement and happiness. We share our interview with Engravist followers for those who have not had the opportunity to join or monitor the workshops.
Could you tell us about yourself and your artistic, academic journey?
I had many courses, some of them are online related to newest digital print making medium. And also experienced comparison between digital and traditional technics. I think new generation should be open to this new technic which technology offers to them.
What would you like to say about the Engravist experience?
Well… It’s wonderful. It is an opportunity for new sudents who dont have experience in this field. Moreover older students, teachers, professors and professional artists could share their experience with each others. When I spent time with the students, they teache me alot. Since every mistake teaches you something. People here also learn to get on well while trying to achive something. I’m really surprised about some of the work which has amazing colors. We represented very different picture outside even my first time in Turkey.
“Printmaking gives you endless opportunities,

How can Engravist can be comprehensive, well known under Istanbul theme?
I personally can’t find any mistake or problem. I can’t really precise how it could be more.
What do you want to say about printmaking and what are the tricks you can recommend to students or beginners?
Printmaking is fun because it gives you endless opportunity for new experiments. The main point is making mistakes. Every mistake make you learn something new. You shouldn’t be afraid, you shouldn’t just copy and do the same thing everyday. You should try new things and new technics every day as possible. Even if you know something and failed it, you should keep trying.

Damjan Gjorgievski: “Engravist, öğrenciler için harika bir fırsat”
“Uluslararası Engravist Baskıresim Etkinlikleri” kapsamında sanatçı Damjan Gjorgievski Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Sanat ve Tasarım Fakültesi Engravist Atölyesi’nde gerçekleşen “Multicolor” ve “Aquatint ve Mezzotint” çalıştaylarında asistanlık yaptı. Profesörler ve katılımcılarla birlikte başarılı çalışmalara imza attı. İstanbul’a ilk kez gelen sanatçının dijital ve geleneksel teknikleri harmanlayarak elde ettiği deneyimleri, yeni insanlarla paylaşmanın verdiği mutluluk ve heyecanını hep beraber hissettik. Çalıştaylara katılma veya izleme fırsatı bulamamış olanlar için gerçekleştirdiğimiz röportajı Engravist takipçileri ile paylaşıyoruz.
Bize akademik/sanatsal yolculuğunuzdan bahsedebilir misiniz?
En yeni dijital baskı yapım ortamıyla ilgili birçok çevrimiçi ders aldım. Böylelikle geleneksel ve dijital yöntemlerle ilgili deneysel çalışmalarda bulundum. Bence gençler teknolojinin onlara sağladığı bütün olanaklara açık olmalılar.
Engravist deneyimi hakkında neler söylemek istersiniz?
Evet… Kesinlikle harika! Engravist bu alanda deneyimleri olmayan öğrenciler için harika bir fırsat. Dahası deneyimli öğrencilerin, öğretim üyelerinin ve profesyonel sanatçıların deneyimlerini birbirleriyle paylaşması için de. Kişisel olarak öğrencilerle birlikte çalışmak bana birçok şey öğretti. Çünkü her hata size bir şey daha öğretirken, beraber çalışmakla da daha iyi öğrenilir. Şaşırdığım bir diğer nokta ise harika renklerle çalışabilmemiz oldu ve Türkiye’de ilk kez bulunmama rağmen çok farklı işler sergiledik.

sonsuz fırsat verir”Sizce İstanbul teması çerçevesinde Engravist nasıl daha geniş kapsamlı ve bilinir bir etkinlik olabilir?
Şahsen şu anda Engravist ile ilgili herhangi bir hata veya sorun bulamıyorum. Bu anlamda da bir yorum yapamayacağım.
Baskıresim hakkında neler söylemek istersiniz ve yeni başlayanlar veya öğrenciler için önerebileceğiniz püf noktaları nelerdir?
Baskıresim çok eğlencelidir. Çünkü size yeni deneyimler için sonsuz fırsat verir. Ama temel nokta hata yapmaktır. Her yanlış yeni bir şey öğrenmenizi sağlar. Korkmamalısınız, her gün aynı şeyi kopyalayıp yapmamalısınız. Mümkün olduğunca her gün yeni şeyler ve yeni teknikler denemelisiniz. Başarısız olacak bir şey olduğunu bilseniz bile denemelisiniz.
